Elon Musk has been using his Social Media platform X to spew disinformation related to the presidential campaigns as well as hateful comments related to various social issues. The Center for Countering Digital Hate
As Musk has become closer to Donald Trump and been promised a position within a perspective new Trump Administration, his rhetoric about both the election and social issues have escalated. The CCDH has identified 50 instances this year that Musk has posted claims concerning the election that have been debunked. One such example was a doctored video that shows Kamala Harris supposedly saying she is the “ultimate diversity hire.”
Musk has taken to making pisparaging posts on subjects of immigration, transgender rights, and predicting an all out “civil war” in the U.K. spreading fear and trying in increase hostilities related to immigration.
Back in the states, he posts have caught the attention of 5 Secretary of States for posting false election. information about such things as ballot deadlines. None of his posts of misinformation have displayed the community notes to correct his disinformation, raising the question of his heavy hand in interfering with the internal operations of X since he is an owner.
