I would counter that statement with the fact there is very little about the United States Constitution that Trump understands, much less believes in.

He believes in freedom of the press only when they are saying nice things about him. If not he mocks them, calls them retarded, and threatens them.

He shows little, no, worse, NO respect for the law.

He has encouraged police to actually do things that are illegal., And why not, he sees himself above the law in everything.

The Constitution is a founding document that has served this nation well. We are not a perfect nation, but I believe the very Idea of America was based upon evolving into more perfect union. Trump likes to cherry pick from the document and his understanding of the document in a broad sense is seriously compromised by his poor executive function, or narcissism and or both.

A person who believes in the Constitution would not involve him/her self in a violent transfer of power outside the scope of the law. They would not make a mockery of the electoral process established under the constitution.

The idea of Trump ending the weaponization of government is laughable. He tried as president to force actions by his attorney general to use the Department of Justice as he saw fit, including eliminating members outside the confines of the department itself. That is not a presidential power.

And further he pledges that he will in fact use the Justice department, the IRS, the CIA and FBI to go after those he is against, not those who warrant such action by virtue of lawlessness.

Since you mention abortion being up to the states not the federal government, let me point out that for many years, up until Roe V Wade, that was how it was. But what Trump's taking out of the Federal government’s hands changes little. There is little difference in saying that The Federal Government can restrict abortion and saying Georgia can restrict Abortion if you live in George. It is a misnomer to say that this belongs to state jurisdiction and not federal when they are both the government. No, abortion should be a matter of choice between the woman, her doctor, and perhaps her clergy, but not her State Representative, not her Governor, Not her Senator or Congressman and not her President. Those last five have no role in her decision - so moving it from the federal to the state isn't any different.

It is somewhere between pathetic and laughable what Trump's relation is to the military. As a convicted felon, he could not serve in the military, and he certainly should not be leading them.

I have never once seen Trump discuss being in favor of legal immigration. He is constantly demeaning immigrants be they legal or illegal. He intentionally sabotaged a bipartisan boarder bill, for his own narcissistic reasons. He wanted to run on the issue more that he wanted to see something done about the problem.

I'm relatively certain that we have never had a president that misunderstood and manuplated the constitution more that Donald Trump.
