I’m Not Going to Lie to You

Nine Months in and the Covid-19 anxiety is real

I clearly understand the people who are just plain tired and they want schools open, shops over run with shoppers, people plopping coins in the Salvation Army Pots with smiles on their face. I think everyone wants that, but the reality today is that is not possible without the loss of more and more lives.

I mask up when I leave the house. At first we were working from home. I would go in only for court hearings. My trips to store and elsewhere were few. I was getting unbelievable gas tank per day mileage. Then things were kind of opened up again. Still masking up & keeping social distancing. The restrictions in the community for stores/businesses were loosened. Our governor was never real involved in fighting the pandemic in Missouri. I went back to work at the office and recently our state began to surge like places in the north east had in the early weeks and months. We rotate now and everyone works two days a week at home to reduce our footprint in the office.

I should make it clear that I have several high risk factors. I am diabetic, and overweight. I also have sleep apnea and from time to time use an inhaler. My wife also is a high risk, so we both are vigilant so that it does not get brought into the home and put us in a situation where both would be fighting it.

Held captive in the Midwest but I love San Francisco, black coffee, chardonnay and diet coke. My vice is SF Giants baseball. I'm the poet you are running from.
