Infant Deaths as Conditions Worsen — Cold and Hunger Contributing Factors

The Child above was three weeks old when her mother realized she was not moving The child named Sila succumbed to the two biggest problem aside from the fighting itself. Hunger and the lower temperature that threaten hypothermia.

The family fleas seeking safe shelter for the sae of their children. They have two others. In Sila’s short 20 day life she and her family made due in a home in the small and overcrowded campsite in the al-Mawasi “humanitarian area.” Hundreds of thousands of Palestinians displaced from elsewhere in the territory have been ordered to move by the Israeli military. The infrastructure and sanitation are poot at best. Flooding from both rain and waves crashing in from the Mediterranean Sea.

In. spite of the IDF telling civilians to move there, Israeli military has struck al-Mawasi repeatedly during in recent times.

Their makeshift arrangements are wht they are. The best they are able to do. The damp and the drop in temperatures allow for conditions ripe for hypothermia. This was what ended little Sila’s life.

There are more and more incidents like this. Just yesterday there were at least 5 other infants that died of hyperthermia. The odds…
