Controversial Picks for Committee Invoke Shades of Jan. 6
House Speaker Appoints Rep. Ronny Johnson and Rep. Scott Perry to the House Intelligence Committee
The two come with some baggage.
Rep. Ronny Jackson, R-Texas., former President Trump’s White House physician, who was demoted by the Navy in July 2022 following a damaging Pentagon inspector general’s report that substantiated allegations about his inappropriate behaviors.
Then, there is Rep. Scott Perry, R-Pa., who played a role in efforts to overturn Trump’s election loss. These two appointees to the Jouse the House Intelligence Committee are not setting well with many House Republicans and Democrats alike.
It appears to signal two things. Mike Johnson has really poor insight and judgment, and that he has no backbone and only acquiesces to Trumps whims.
Neither of these two are a good fit for the intel committee. Ronny Jackson is hardly qualified to be a congressman. It became fairly obviously as a White House Physician to Trump, he was nothing more than a “snake oil” doctor. Faced charges of drinking on duty and has faced allegations of harassment of staff while he was White House Physician. Perry is actually a player in the efforts to overturn the election, he was required to turn over phone record data by the FBI in the matter. Being…
