The Problem With Doubters

There Will Always Be Doubters

There have been doubters since the beginning of time. Doubting is not in and of itself a bad thing. A caveman comes across a bunch of burning sticks and brush and as he gets close to it, itis hot and he pulls back. What good can ever come of this thing I will call fire? Over time it is learned that there are positive uses for fire.

In biblical times there is Thomas. Who Christ called to him to touch his wounded hands and put his hand into the open side of Christ. Doubt no more, Thomas.

We, or at least I have grown up in a time when questioning things, authority, etc. was somewhat of a calling card of our generation. Questioning our priorities, our government’s involvement in military action, how our society treats others —

Our parents were somewhat put off by out skeptical view of what was going on around us, but we did it anyway. It did not take me long to question the the “police action” as it was called in Vietnam. My decision was based it part on emotion, but only did I reach my opposition be considering. the actors/players in this dispute. Their motivations. what they hoped to achieve, and how realistic was it that this goal could in fact be achieved. And at what cost. In hindsight, almost no one disputes that Vietnam was a big mistake and for any number of reasons but certainly all the names of young men and women who are named on the mammoth Vietnam War Memorial. There were economic factors, considerations for the people whose nation was ravaged by war…
