The Punitive Tone of Israel
Israel has become its own worst enemy.
It seems that some people have trouble talking about the current situation in Gaza and the animus between Jews and Palestinian's. Certainly as we can see from news coverage of protests on college campuses there can be heated conversations. While some of the protests have pitted the two sides against each other, some have actually been very civil. At Columbia and elsewhere there have been many Jews join the call for a cease fire now. There is an active contingent of Jews that have opposed the conduct of the war being waged in Gaza. The conditions on the ground paint a dire humanitarian crisis. Food insufficiency has progressed into serious nutritional issues for many children and other Palestinian civilians.
From the beginning water supply was cut. The food aid slowed to a crawl and sometimes a complete stoppage. The displacement of so many families as their residences were hit with 2,000 lb bombs that flattened everything for large areas. These were not precession bombs directed at targets but a pattern of carpet bombing that has devastated between 70 and 80 % of the housing, Millions took to the streets to avoid attacks but even so called safe zones would be hit, The death toll tops 35,600 and between 70 and 80,000 are said to have been wounded, Child amputations are high.
