2020 YOUTH VOTE

In the 2020 election voters between 18 and 29 broke 60 Biden and 36 Trump. Between 30 and 44 broke Biden Biden 52 and Trump 46. These two demographics were critical to Biden’s win.

Much is being written about. the Gen Z and Millennial voters this election. Things have certainly changed in the past 4 years. Whose side are these voters going to be on?

NPR reports a shifting of support that could spell trouble for Biden. Ages 18- 26 Biden is at 32% to Trump 37%. In the 27 to 40 year old range — Biden is at 34% and Trump 30% Is this slight shift solid or is it still fluid. This polling includes other minor candidates and their support may be fluid as well.

One of the things likely driving some of these numbers appears to be the significant anti-war sentiment young people are having over the humanitarian crisis that Israel has made out of their military actions in Gaza. The protests on college campuses is a good sign that the opposition to the war in Gaza is highly charged. This has created some frustration with normal left leaning Democrats that find it problematic the the United States has continued to supply Israel weapons that are killing. women children and other civilians.
