Conditions on the Ground

The IDF has moved into Rafah. They took control of the Egyptian Crossing and raised an Israeli flag. For several days Israel has bombed positions in the crowed area as civilians, and families flee for elsewhere. Israel has instructed them to move to so called safe areas, most of which U.S. and Aid officials say are not habitable. Most of the infrastructure including roads are rubble and navigating them is problematic. In adition, more Israeli attacks have started again in north Gaza.

US Secretary of State Blinken says Israel has no “credible plan” for protecting Rafah’s civilians during a full-scale invasion. They have told Israel that the US will withhold arms from Israel if it proceeds.

Friday the US State Department release a report based on Information it has requested from Israel. The report says it’s finding is “reasonable to assess” that US weapons have been used by Israeli forces in Gaza in ways that are “inconsistent” with international humanitarian law.
