While I had not thought of this, it makes perfect sense. I’m not at all bothered by gender neutral bathrooms. I was recently at a conference and they had some individual bathrooms but the bulk were gender neutral. My experiences were positive. I did not gawk at people by the lavatory but on two occasion a woman at the next lavatory spoke to me. One asked how my day was going, the other more specifically asked how I was enjoying the conference. They were polite and obviously felt comfortable — perhaps more so than me. The conference was in my city and later I thought what it they had been someone I knew. It was not without possibility. You know I saw absolutely nothing wrong with it. I hope to find them more common, as sometimes I’m scrambling in a hurry to use the facilities and I’m more comfortable knowing when I find one I can use and not have to keep looking for the men’s room. People need to get a grip and put their emphasis on things that really matte, not who is in the locked stall next to them.

But again, your situation was just one very reasonable reason for gender neutral rest room facalities.

Held captive in the Midwest but I love San Francisco, black coffee, chardonnay and diet coke. My vice is SF Giants baseball. I'm the poet you are running from.
