Why the ‘Uncommitted’ Voters Got It Wrong

Young Voters Serious About The Cause of Palestinian People Spoke Up For the Right Reason — But Still Made a Mistake.

My reference to ‘Uncommitted’ voters refers to those who pleadged their primary votes to an uncommitted slate in an effort to shed light on the Genocide in Gaza and the feeling. the the U.S. was complicit because of the weapons provided to Israel.

As a disclaimer, I am a Democrat. An elected Democratic official in my county. I also had grown way past concerned about the plight of the Palestinian people who had already endured decades of Apartheid under Israel. I shared the feeling of anger that many of you have even today as every single day civilians — women and children are being killed by the IDF.

I understand the unhappiness with Biden over the course of American support for Israel. I sent him untold numbers of letters over the past year about my belief that these weapons were making us complicit. I understood the historic connection between the U.S. and Israel. But that did not negate our obligation to the inhumanity of the Netanyahu government. I am aware that Biden tried again and again invalidate his actions and stop what has certainly become punitive violence against unarmed civilians in their own homes. Netanyahu thumbed…
