There is an old phrase, “People who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.” The phrase is essentially a commentary on retaliation. You throw a stone at a neighbor’s house, you live in one too and he gets back at stoning your house too.
When Vice Presidential Candidate JD Vance went after his Democratic counterpart on military service, my first thought was, oh, you are not really going to go there are you? That was because of Trump famously dodged the draft 5 times contending he had bone spurs.
But CNN anchor Brianna Keilar referred to Vance as an imperfect messenger. Vance served in the marines and had a deployment as a military correspondent in public affairs for 4 years. He never saw any combat action.
“At what point did military service become a liability?” Keilar asked rhetorically on CNN’s Inside Politics. “I also think that J.D. Vance as a messenger on this may be an imperfect messenger.”
But Vance accused Walz, who served with the Army National Guard for 24 years, of exiting the service before his unit was deployed to Iraq.
